In recent months, numerous foreigners have reported to us problems with receiving correspondence/ money transfers at post offices and with access to public services at Warsaw district offices solely due to the fact that they hold a residence document (residence card, temporary foreigner’s identity certificate) whose validity period specified on the document has expired. Meanwhile, the validity of the above documents has been extended by law due to the spread of the coronavirus.

In view of the above, we have written to the Mayor of Warsaw and the Polish Post Office regarding the honouring of identity documents of foreigners.

We encourage you to read the letters attached above, in which we refer to the relevant legal provisions.

In response, the Polish Post assured us that it would undertake measures to eliminate the reported irregularities.
