SIP submitted a shadow report to the Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO) in advance of GREVIO’s monitoring visit to Poland. The report contradicts some of the statements and data from the Polish Government`s report submitted to GREVIO earlier this year.

In the report we point out that:

  • Poland keeps unlawfully detaining migrant women- survivors of gender-based violence
  • there is no autonomus residence permit for migrant women who are survivours of gender-based violence
  • migrant women experiencing gender-based violence lack acces to crisis intervention and basic support services
  • Polish authorities rarely recognize gender-based violence in the country of origin as a reason to grant international protection or cease deportation.
